Debut Dizraeli Album – Engurland (city Shanties)

October 29th, 2009 by Pj

Dizraeli is a rapper, writer, poet and singer with the band Bad Science , and a member of the Brighton-based CommUNITY Collective. He is the 2006/7 Farrago UK Slam Poetry Champion and also the Radio 4 Poetry Slam winner.

Dizraeli has recently gone solo to craft his very own album; ‘Engurland (City Shanties)’ was released on Monday 12th October,  and can be heard here.

With clear folk influences the album begins with ‘Homeward Bound (On The Overground)’ which lays out all the essentials of what’s to come; harmonies, guitars, fiddles, beats and scratched samples all blended seemlessly.

The stand out  track  for me is called ‘Reach Out’ ;  as well as playing the guitar, melodica, percussion and drums on this track, he raps uber competently as he passes on the story of two old men he met. He’s  joined by Cate Ferris on backing vocals, Jeremy Levitsky on slide guitar and it’s all produced by Mr. Simmonds.

Bomb Tesco is the  new single from the album..

You can pick up the album from Dizraeli’s website, or you can find it at itunes.
