PIAS Entertainment Group has signed a deal with Google’s  YouTube, under which PIAS sell and manage the advertising sold against videos from its artists on the site, and share revenue with artists.

Artists on Pias associated labels included Speech Debelle, The Pixies, Dizzee Rascal, and Travis. The deal includes both official and user-generated videos, and will additionally see the parties collaborate on channel and page sponsorships.

Pias will also work with its 200 odd labels, including the likes of Ninja Tune and Domino Records, to drive traffic to artist pages on YouTube and sign third-party sponsorship deals… they also now have the right to remove content from YouTube if they wish.

The deal with independent labels comes just weeks after an agreement between YouTube and Warner Music.

Warner, home to Muse and Led Zeppelin, removed material from YouTube last December after a row over royalties. But the nine-month dispute was settled with a new revenue-sharing deal allowing Warner to sell advertising against its content on YouTube.

YouTube will now feature videos from all the major music companies including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music.
